Farm News Update (Week of March 2nd) from Bryn!
This week has been fun! Spring is sneaking up on us, and the weather is getting warmer (thank goodness). Knowing Colorado, however, the weather will go through a few more cold phases before it decides to be warm for good. The sunshine has been a blessing, but there was a massive wind storm Monday and Tuesday, with gusts up to 45 mph. Loose items and tumbleweeds got blown all over the farm, but luckily no major damage was inflicted.
We are starting to plant the seeds for the herb and flower garden, and soon the greenhouse will actually have some green in it. So far, we have over 10 trays of seeds planted, with herbs like white sage, thyme, white savory, and Valerian.
The animals are very happy and energetic these days. The baby lambs are growing insanely fast, and soon they will be indistinguishable from their mommas. I cleaned out the chicken coop this week, which I’m sure they were very grateful for, though they didn’t express it at the time— they hate having their personal space invaded (I don’t blame them)! I love seeing how excited they get when it is the time of the day they get let out and can roam the farm freely. They roll around in the dirt, chase each other, and peck out the ground. We hope our herbs all have successful germination and thrive on the land we have cultivated, and that all the animals stay happy and healthy!
